The Peloponnese Wine Festival made a remarkable return to Thessaloniki on September 22, 2025, hosted by the Union of Wine Producers of the Peloponnese (ENOAP) at the Makedonia Palace Hotel. This event, titled Wines of Peloponnese – Thessaloniki Edition, attracted over 500 visitors, a significant turnout for the region.
The highlight of the day was the Walk Around Tasting, organized by Wine Plus, where attendees had the unique opportunity to sample 107 wines from 38 wineries across all counties of the Peloponnese. This self-serve tasting format provided detailed information about each wine, supported by the knowledgeable Wine Plus team. Guests enjoyed a diverse selection, ranging from refreshing whites and expressive rosés to complex reds, showcasing the richness and dynamism of the Peloponnesian vineyard.
The event also saw a substantial participation from wine professionals, including retailers, wholesalers, sommeliers, and market representatives, underscoring the commercial interest in Peloponnesian wines in Northern Greece.
In addition to the main event, two fully booked Masterclasses were conducted, attracting a total of 100 participants, primarily industry professionals. These sessions were led by renowned wine expert Stefanos Kogias and covered:
- Rare varieties of the Peloponnese: «Kydonitsa opened the way – which follows?»
- Classic varieties of the Peloponnese: «From tradition to modern expression.»
The organizers expressed their satisfaction with the overwhelming interest and participation, highlighting the dynamic return of the event to Thessaloniki after nearly a decade. This resurgence emphasized the value of collective representation for Peloponnesian wines and the growing competitive advantage of indigenous varieties in the contemporary market.
