On Wednesday, October 1, 2025, the Municipality of Monemvasia will conduct a trial activation of the Early Warning System for the Civilian Population as part of the National Inter-Agency Exercise TAMS «PARMENION-2025.» Citizens and visitors are encouraged to stay informed as this exercise will include the sounding of sirens across the entire territory.
The procedure has been meticulously outlined in an official directive from the Department of Civil Protection. At 11:00 AM, a warning tone indicating an air attack will be sounded for 60 seconds nation-wide. This will be followed by an all-clear signal at 11:05 AM for another 60 seconds, maintaining a steady tone.
At 11:20 AM, a second warning tone for air attacks will ring out for 60 seconds, but this time specifically for the Southern Sector, which encompasses the South Aegean Region, the Island of Crete, and several Peloponnese regional units, including Arcadia, Messinia, and Laconia. An all-clear signal will follow at 11:25 AM.
Moreover, a warning signal for threats to civil safety will be activated at 11:30 AM, lasting for two minutes, which will also be sounded throughout the entire territory. The final all-clear signal will resound at 11:35 AM for 60 seconds.
It is crucial to emphasize that this activation is purely for testing purposes, designed to ensure preparedness among citizens without causing panic or confusion. Concurrently, church bells across the territory will chime with a series of brief peals for a duration of three minutes.
All stakeholders are urged to familiarize themselves with these schedules and to remember that the drills are central to maintaining national safety protocols. Your mindfulness will not only aid in the smooth execution of this exercise but also strengthen our collective readiness for any real emergencies.
