The ongoing efforts by the Peloponnese Region to enhance the provincial road network in the Municipality of Monemvasia continue to attract significant interest. Recent interventions focus on key routes including «Molai-Reihia-Kyparissi,» «Reihia-Ierakas-Ieraka Port-Saint John of Monemvasia,» and «Monemvasia-Nomia-Neapolis.»
Under the decision of the Peloponnese Regional Governor, Mr. Dimitrios Ptochos, a project titled «Maintenance-Improvement of the No. 31 Provincial Road Molai-Reihia-Kyparissi and Reihia-Ierakas-Ieraka Port-Saint John of Monemvasia, and No. 37 Provincial Road Monemvasia-Nomia-Neapolis of the Laconia Regional Unit» has been approved for funding. This initiative has a budget of €700,000.
The primary goal of these targeted interventions is to address extensive damages on the road network, ensuring safe and comfortable travel. Planned works include:
– Improvement, restoration, and replacement of the asphalt surface to restore both the surface and the slopes of the roadway.
– Restoration of existing technical works.
– Horizontal and vertical signage works (markings, signs).
– Installation of safety barriers in areas identified as hazardous.
Additionally, during the meeting on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, the Regional Committee of the Peloponnese approved the draft of the programmatic agreement and the submission of a proposal for funding from the Peloponnese PPA for the project titled «Maintenance-Improvement of the Road Network in the Municipality of Elafonisos,» with a budget of €300,000.
The Deputy Regional Governor of Laconia, Theodoros Veroutis, stated that these projects represent a significant step towards improving and rehabilitating the road network in the municipalities of Monemvasia and Elafonisos, areas known for their high visitor traffic and vibrant economic and tourism activities.
