On Sunday, July 26, 2026, a magical musical experience unfolded at Barsiniko, Taygetus, during the much-anticipated «Jazz Night Under the Plane Trees.» This annual event, held in the courtyard of the Holy Monastery of Zooodochos Pigi, exceeded all expectations with an impressive turnout.
Attendees from every corner of Laconia gathered beneath the ancient plane trees for a night filled with improvisation, authentic flavors, and a vibrant atmosphere. The jazz quartet delivered a high-caliber concert, captivating the audience with beloved jazz standards and original compositions, maintaining engagement until the very last note.
The talented musicians who graced the stage included:
– Leonidas Sarantopoulos (saxophone & flute)
– Byron Dolas (guitar)
– Chrysostomos Boukalas (bass)
– Anastasios Gouliaris (drums)
The enthusiasm and attendance were so overwhelming that the popular burger offerings and chilled beers ran out early in the evening. For the organizers, this «sold out» event was a delightful surprise and a valuable experience for future gatherings.
In light of the event’s success, the Progressive Association of Taygetus Mystra issued a heartfelt announcement thanking everyone who traveled to Barsiniko, the exceptional musicians, volunteers, and all those who contributed to the harmonious execution of the event. They noted, «This year’s event proved that the ‘Jazz Night Under the Plane Trees’ is evolving into a cultural institution that increasingly attracts more people. Next year, the Association will be even better prepared to ensure that all visitors can enjoy the flavors and hospitality without limitations, while the event will return with a new musical ensemble and fresh surprises.»
This celebration of music and community not only highlighted the rich cultural tapestry of the region but also set the stage for future events that promise to bring even more joy and connection to the local populace.
