The recently renovated Lakhio Primary School in the region of Voi, Lakonia, is set to open its doors for the first time in many years, hosting a solo exhibition by the artist Vani Koronaki. From August 13 to August 18, 2026, the school will showcase works from various periods of her artistic journey, engaging visitors with a dialogue that spans painting, mixed media, photography, collage, installations, and conceptual art.
This historic school, with its large windows allowing natural light to flood the space, transforms into a meeting point for diverse forms of artistic expression. It serves not only as a venue for the exhibition but also as an active participant in the conversation between the artworks and the building’s rich history, where the past and artistic practice coexist and illuminate each other.
In a space that once served knowledge and learning, art returns to open new avenues of observation, memory, and dialogue. Through various forms of expression, themes emerge that touch on memory, time, place, environment, human experience, and the ongoing quest for new artistic explorations and materials.
The significance of this exhibition is heightened by the artist’s personal and familial connections to the area, maintaining a vibrant relationship with the community and its historical memory. The exhibition is organized under the auspices of the Association of Lakhio Residents «Agios Charalampos» and with the kind support of the Lakhio Municipal Community of the Municipality of Monemvasia.

Artist Biography
Vani Koronaki is a visual artist of Corfiot descent, currently creating and working in Paleo Faliro. She is married to Stelios Tsoukalas, who hails from Lakhio. A graduate of the Department of Political Science at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (EKPA), she holds a master’s degree in Public Relations and Communication from Eurocenter College. Additionally, she studied at BORGIAS Fine Art, Culture & Design, completing a master’s program in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on Interdisciplinary Methods in Art, Curatorial Practice, and Public Art.
Her work focuses on ecology, environmental destruction, and the relationship between humans and the natural environment, aiming to engage viewers through thought-provoking themes. She employs various media and materials, blending research, photography, and experiential processes.
Koronaki has presented her work in solo, interdisciplinary, and group exhibitions and actively participates in artistic initiatives both in Greece and abroad. She is a member of the artistic groups «elementA,» «Dipola,» «vitaEY,» and «DONNA.art.»
