The Municipality of Monemvasia, in collaboration with the Society of Spartan Studies, is excited to invite the public to a unique musical evening set to take place in the picturesque Square of Chrysaftitissa, within the historic Castle of Monemvasia. This event is scheduled for Tuesday, August 25, 2026, from 19:00 to 20:30, under the evocative title «Music as a Language.»
This enchanting musical evening is free of charge and is part of an educational initiative under the European Erasmus+ program, specifically focusing on the inclusion of resilient minds: skills for refugees and marginalized youth. The event is held under the auspices of the Youth and Lifelong Learning Foundation of the Ministry of Education.
Attendees will be treated to the musical talents of two exceptional artists, Mr. Giannis Ismyrnioglou and Mr. Giorgos Kasavetes, who will take the audience on a melodic journey through the Mediterranean, performing songs from various corners of the region.
The organizers emphasize that the goal of this event, which will also feature young participants from Spain and Turkey, is to celebrate the shared cultural elements that unite the Mediterranean peoples and highlight their interconnected future. They warmly invite all citizens, as well as music and culture enthusiasts, to join in an evening filled with Mediterranean melodies and rhythms.
Additionally, heartfelt thanks are extended to the Ephorate of Antiquities of Laconia for providing the venue, as well as to the local businesses «Moreos Idista» and «Winery of Monemvasia Tsimbidis» for their generous contributions of high-quality traditional local products.
This event promises to be a vibrant celebration of culture and community, fostering connections through the universal language of music.
