In recent days, a captivating photographic exhibition has taken place in Neapolis, showcasing memories of a bygone era in the Vatika region. This exhibition, featuring the work of photographer Nikos Stathakis, was held at the Karnagio from July 29 to August 16, 2026.
The exhibition offers a unique photographic journey through time, presenting images that capture Vatika as it once was. These photographs preserve moments, faces, landscapes, and the daily life of a time that, while it may have passed, remains alive in the collective memory of the community.
Nikos Stathakis’s lens serves as a bridge between the past and the present. Each photograph evokes memories, narratives, and a return to familiar images and a way of life that has left its mark on the history of the area. For older generations, the exhibition provides an opportunity to revisit cherished images and beloved figures. For younger visitors, it offers a different perspective on the history and daily life of Vatika, allowing them to discover through photography what their hometown was like in another era.
The exhibition was made possible with the support of the Voion Nautical Club and the social cooperative enterprise «Thrymbi,» contributing to the promotion of local history, cultural memory, and the photographic documentation of the region.
This event not only highlights the artistic talent of Stathakis but also emphasizes the importance of preserving and sharing the rich history of Vatika, ensuring that the stories and experiences of the past continue to resonate with future generations.
