A unique environmental initiative titled “Lullaby of the Sea” is set to take place on Sunday, August 23, 2026, in the protected area of Neapolis and Elafonisos (GR2540002). This event aims to raise awareness about marine conservation and is open to participants of all ages.
The initiative is organized in collaboration with the Parent Association for Individuals with Autism in Laconia «Spectrum of Life» and the Spartan Studies Society. This gathering is held under the auspices of the European Commission (#EMDinMyCountry2026), commemorating the European Maritime Day. Notably, it stands out as one of only two events in the entire Peloponnese to receive such European recognition, underscoring its importance.
Program Highlights 
The “Lullaby of the Sea” seeks to connect science with emotion and humanity with the ocean through three thematic axes:
- Environmental Education: An interactive session focused on the endangered loggerhead turtle Caretta-caretta, in collaboration with the Protected Areas Management Unit of Southern Peloponnese, O.F.Y.P.E.K.A..
- Storytelling: A segment where ancient Greek myths meet contemporary literature about the sea, facilitated by educator and special needs teacher, Niki Zavra.
- Musical Journey: A tribute to the sea featuring traditional and contemporary melodies performed by artists Giannis Ismyrnioglou and George Kasaveti.
