An open discussion focusing on the future of tourism in the Municipality of Monemvasia is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at 4:30 PM in the Tourist Pavilion of Monemvasia. This initiative is organized by the Municipality of Monemvasia in collaboration with KEAN – Cell of Alternative Research.
This local workshop aims to address a crucial question: How can we continue welcoming visitors, support the local economy and businesses, while simultaneously protecting what makes the Municipality of Monemvasia unique?
Through a straightforward, practical, and interactive presentation, participants will learn a new perspective on tourism development based on real data and examples. They will gain insights into understanding when a destination is under significant pressure, what triggers this pressure, and the options available for better management.
Attendees will have the opportunity to apply the tool being developed under the CAREMED project, allowing them to share their observations, ideas, and proposals. No tool or plan can truly function without the knowledge of those who live, work, and are active in the tourism sector daily.
