The Cultural Association of Vatika participated in the 18th Cycladic Gastronomy Festival «Nikolaos Tselementes» held in Sifnos from September 17 to 20, following an honorary invitation. A delegation of 40 members represented their region with pride at this beautiful yet demanding event.
Through the collective effort of all participants, the Association successfully showcased Vatika to a diverse audience from Greece and abroad, highlighting the region’s traditional dances and authentic flavors.
Over 8,000 Visitors at the Vatika Booth
More than 8,000 individuals visited the well-decorated booth of the Association, sampling local products and leaving with informative promotional materials about the area. Visitors had the opportunity to taste traditional Vatika products, including:
- Lychnarakia, almond sweets, samousades, and pancakes
- Makaronas, tsaitia, and plasto
- Touloum cheese and olive bread
- Onion and zucchini flower jam
- Smoked pork, olives, and excellent extra virgin olive oil
- Honey, wine, hydromel, and arbaroriza liqueur
During the festival, a live demonstration of traditional tsaitia preparation was conducted, alongside interviews aimed at promoting the attractions and beauty of Vatika. The dance troupe captivated the audience with traditional performances, showcasing the authentic attire of Vatika.
Experiences and a Return with Full Bags
Beyond their official duties, the delegation members enjoyed dancing, meeting other groups, and reveling in the stunning scenery of Sifnos. They returned home exhausted but filled with beautiful memories, colors, and aromas, ready to continue their work in promoting their region.
This success would not have been possible without the impeccable collaboration of all delegation members, the guidance of their instructors, and the invaluable support of local businesses.
