A significant financial boost has been approved by the Peloponnese Region, amounting to a total of €14,756,412 allocated for 14 vital projects. This funding comes as part of the National Development Program and aims to enhance infrastructure across the regions of Arcadia, Argolis, Corinthia, Laconia, and Messinia. The primary focus of these interventions is on improving the road network, constructing new junctions, and implementing flood protection measures.
In particular, Laconia stands out with a substantial allocation of €5.5 million dedicated to crucial infrastructure improvements. The breakdown of this funding includes:
- €500,000 earmarked specifically for the maintenance of the road sections between Molai and Elia, as well as Velies, Daimonia, and Neapolis.
- €1.9 million designated for the construction of the at-grade junction at Xirokambi.
- €1.5 million allocated for the development of the at-grade junction at Stefanias.
- €1 million set aside for the maintenance of the National Road connecting Tripoli, Sparta, and Gytheio, along with the Provincial Road from Skala to Gytheio.
- €600,000 invested in the maintenance, cleaning, and restoration of technical works along the Eurotas River and adjacent streams.
The regional authorities have emphasized the importance of responding promptly to the needs of the citizens. The Regional Governor of Peloponnese, Dimitris Ptochos, highlighted the necessity for available resources to reach the areas where they are most needed, ensuring that funding decisions translate quickly into tangible results. Meanwhile, the Deputy Regional Governor, Christos Lampropoulos, reiterated the commitment to advancing each project in an organized manner, minimizing the time from funding approval to implementation.
This initiative reflects a proactive approach to infrastructure development in the Peloponnese, aiming to enhance connectivity and safety for residents and travelers alike.
