On Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 20:30, the Monemvasia Film Club in Nomia will present a poignant film dedicated to the struggles and hardships faced by the Palestinian people. The feature will showcase «One More Jump,» directed by Emanuele Gerosa, in collaboration with Dounias and the Athens Palestine Film Festival. This screening serves as a vital act of solidarity for those across the globe enduring the horrors of war.
### Overview of the Film
The narrative follows Jehád and Abdallah, two Palestinian athletes who grew up together in the Gaza Strip. In 2005, they founded a parkour team to provide younger generations with an alternative to war. After they managed to escape, Abdallah now lives in a deserted house in Italy as a political refugee, struggling to make ends meet without employment. Meanwhile, Jehád remains trapped in Gaza, caring for his ill parents while leading the parkour team amid the dire political situation.
Despite their shared past, the two have not spoken in years, as Jehád has never forgiven Abdallah for leaving him behind. However, in a desperate bid to realize his dream, Abdallah decides to participate in an international parkour competition. This prompts Jehád to apply for a visa, recognizing that he has no future left in Gaza and longing to change his destiny.
Their friendship has frayed due to their divergent choices, yet their fates remain intertwined. They are faced with the urgent question: is there a way to lead someone born into captivity, like them, towards freedom?
Following the screening, a discussion will be held about the situation in Gaza and the necessity of political resistance and humanitarian aid, potentially revisiting past political decisions that have contributed to this ongoing conflict.
This event not only showcases a compelling film but also encourages dialogue about critical humanitarian issues, inviting attendees to engage with the wider narrative surrounding the Palestinian struggle.
