The Tloupas PATH photography competition, organized by the Thessaly Region, is poised to establish itself as a recognized cultural institution with both national and international significance. This initiative aims to explore and expand the conceptual framework surrounding the «Relationship of Humans with the Environment» in which they live, utilizing contemporary approaches.
The Tloupas PATH, derived from the title Tloupas Photography Award of Thessaly’s Heritage, operates through various axes including competitive, educational, organizational, and communicative aspects. Central to this initiative are two annual photography competitions, each with its respective awards:
- TLOUPAS PATH INTERNATIONAL AWARD: Targeted at established photographers from Greece and abroad.
- TLOUPAS PATH UNDER 30 AWARD: Designed for emerging artists within Greece.
The awards aim to highlight the work of significant photographers and provide them with opportunities to showcase their art in Greece. For the year 2025, the thematic cycle is titled Turning Point, inviting competition participants to present works that capture the process or outcome of a definitive change. This theme reflects a pivotal moment of gradual or drastic transformation, marking a transition from one state to another—whether personal, socio-political, or geographical—after which the world cannot revert to its previous condition.
Key selection criteria include artistic originality in conception and execution, relevance to the theme of each cycle, narrative coherence, and the emotional impact of the images. The photographs must collectively create a unified and cohesive series, showcasing technical proficiency, modernity, and a distinctive photographic style.
