A significant fire broke out on the evening of Sunday, July 27, 2025, around 8:30 PM, in the area of Agios Stefanos, Monemvasia. This region has a troubling history of wildfires, with similar incidents occurring in April 2024 and June 2025.
Thanks to the prompt response of the Fire Service, along with the activation of the municipality’s water trucks and machinery, as well as volunteers with agricultural firefighting vehicles, the worst was averted. Specifically, 10 vehicles with 30 firefighters and a team of foot soldiers from the 9th Emergency Response Unit were deployed. The Greek Police were also present to manage and regulate traffic in the area.
It is essential to highlight the timely and coordinated intervention of all involved parties and private citizens, which helped bring the fire under control quickly, ensuring that no lives or structures were endangered.
