The session commenced with an update from President Adamantia Mastoropoulou regarding the Association’s activities in 2025, alongside a financial and administrative report. Key issues addressed included:
Reestablishment of the Association: This involved appointing a lawyer and taking necessary steps to reintegrate as an active member of the Peloponnesian Federation of Commerce and Entrepreneurship (POEE) and the Greek Confederation of Commerce and Entrepreneurship (ESEE).
Cultural Initiatives: Plans were discussed to promote Monemvasia through collaborations with local and national media, aiming to attract more visitors to the area.
Interventions for Local Issues: The assembly addressed various problems affecting the city, such as unjustified power outages, the closure of the local ELTA post office, and proposals to the Municipality of Monemvasia concerning water supply, cleanliness, and overall city functionality.
Support for the Business Community: A seminar in collaboration with the Association of Accountants of Laconia was proposed. Additionally, two programs were secured with KAEL Patras for training safety technicians and food business personnel (EFET Level 1), which will remain open in 2026, contingent on participant numbers.
Advocacy for Business Survival: The assembly voted positively on proposals to the POEE council, seeking vital changes for the survival of businesses. These included exemptions from the presumed income taxation system for individual enterprises and freelancers, the establishment of a truly functional non-seizable business account, a new unified regulation for tax and social security debts with up to 120 installments, the cancellation of surcharges, and a reduced interest rate of 3%, similar to the current provisions under the Extrajudicial Mechanism. Furthermore, there was a push for VAT exemptions for small businesses with annual revenues up to €60,000.
Inclusion in European Programs: The integration of small trade and businesses into European funding programs (ESPA) was also discussed.
Present at the meeting were the Deputy Mayor of Monemvasia, Stavros Christakos, and the President of the Local Municipal Unit of Monemvasia, Panagiotis Grafos.
