The curtain rises on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 9:00 PM at the Amphitheater of the Lyceum of Molai, marking the commencement of the 9th National Amateur Theatre Festival in the Municipality of Monemvasia. This significant artistic event has become a tradition, organized by the Municipality of Monemvasia in collaboration with the Peloponnese Region.
For nine days, eleven theatrical groups from Greece and Cyprus will transform the town of Molai into an expansive theatrical stage, showcasing the vibrancy and energy of this remarkable endeavor.
In a statement, the Festival’s Artistic Director, Olympia Lampousi, expressed:
«The allure of genuine, heartfelt participation from individuals who deeply love Theatre is the reason our Festival continues for the 9th consecutive year, contributing to the richness of our region. This richness in culture fosters a way of living together, allowing us to listen to and see one another, sharing laughter and emotion, and existing socially.»
She emphasized that the significance lies not only in the performances but also in the presence of the audience. It is not merely about what is performed on stage, but about who gathers around it—supporters and creators alike, volunteers and spectators, from various backgrounds, united by a shared desire to connect. This collective experience transcends the stage, extending into the entire community, offering a therapeutic effect.
With this sentiment, all are invited to join in another year of theatrical encounters, not just as spectators but as co-creators of an experience.
