In June 2025, a new beacon of hope emerged in Monemvasia with the establishment of the “CanShare” Association for Cancer Patients and Friends. This organization, rooted in the heart of the community, aims to support those battling cancer and their loved ones, fostering a spirit of resilience and solidarity.
The founding members of CanShare are individuals who have faced the challenges of cancer head-on, and their mission is to illuminate the path for others who are currently navigating this difficult journey. The association is dedicated to providing emotional and psychological support, while also raising awareness about cancer within the community.
On July 6, 2025, from 18:00 to 20:00, the association will hold its first open general assembly at the KAPI center in Monemvasia. This gathering is designed to introduce the community to CanShare and its founding members, as well as to discuss the organization’s goals and objectives in an open forum.
Key points of the meeting will include:
– Familiarization with the CanShare association and its founding members.
– Presentation of the association’s aims through an open discussion with attendees.
– Registration of new members and the option to pay an annual contribution for those interested.
– Establishing strong ties of cooperation and solidarity with local entities and sister organizations.
– Collecting nominations for the upcoming elections of a new seven-member Board of Directors, scheduled for July 13, 2025, from 18:00 to 20:00 at the KAPI center in Monemvasia. Notably, any registered member can freely nominate themselves for a position.
– Election of a three-member auditing committee and a supervisory committee.
This initiative not only seeks to provide support but also aims to create a network of solidarity among those affected by cancer, encouraging community involvement and awareness. The CanShare Association stands as a testament to the strength of community spirit and the power of collective action in the face of adversity.
