Nestled in the picturesque region of Laconia, just a short distance from Molai, lies the traditional village of Pakia. This charming settlement, built at the foothills of Mount Kourkoulas, offers breathtaking views of the surrounding plains. The history of Pakia is rich and deep, with the earliest written references dating back to 1500 AD.
Pakia is home to a series of springs, the most notable being the one at Panagitsa, with others extending towards Elia. These springs serve as vital links to the past, preserving the memory and history of the area. Recently, the active Cultural Association of the village, known as «Vrysoula,» undertook the cleaning and enhancement of two springs located at Panagitsa and Vrysoula. The stone basins, crafted from local Krokeati stone, evoke the lifestyle of the early to mid-20th century.
### Panagitsa
This site marks the origin of the village. For many years, it was a hub of daily life, providing water for households and livestock, as well as a gathering place for conversation and community. The vivid images of that era—barrels loaded onto animals or carried on backs—remain alive in the memories of the locals.
### Vrysoula
Located at the southern edge of the village, along the road to Elia, Vrysoula is another significant landmark, aptly named after the village association. Here, water was equally precious for both homes and animals.
Following the recent cleaning efforts, both springs are now accessible to visitors. A stroll through these areas combines history, nature, and stunning views of the plains and Mount Kourkoulas, inviting exploration and appreciation of this culturally rich landscape.
