In a notable development from the region of Lakonia, Margarita Spyridakou, an esteemed dentist based in Papadianika, has announced the completion of her four-year term as president of the Lakonian Dental Association. Alongside this announcement, she has expressed her decision not to seek re-election, choosing instead to dedicate her efforts to the recently established Association of Parents, Guardians, and Friends of Individuals with Autism in the Municipality of Lakonia, «Fasma Zois,» where she serves as a founding member and president.
Reflecting on her presidency, Spyridakou shared, «A significant chapter concludes for me with exceedingly positive experiences and memories.» She emphasized the high standard of scientific training possessed by Lakonian and Greek dentists alike, which has gained international recognition, allowing them to take pride in the quality of services offered at their practices.
In her statement, she recalled how, four years ago, her peers elected her as president during the elections held on March 20, 2022. This role was not just an honor but also a considerable responsibility. During her term, Spyridakou oversaw the effective organization and legal operations of dental practices while promoting adherence to professional ethics. She also championed lifelong education for the members, ensuring they provide high-quality services to their patients and raising public awareness about oral health, particularly focusing on prevention.
The cooperation among the board members and the association’s secretariat proved to be particularly fruitful. Collaborative efforts extended to the leadership of other dental associations in the Peloponnese, facilitating the organization of the Peloponnese Dental Congresses and working with the Greek Dental Federation, which serves as the institutional representative and guardian of dental profession standards in Greece.
A highlight of her tenure was the successful organization of the 21st Peloponnese Dental Congress in Mystras, which, despite the association’s relatively small membership, garnered impressive acclaim for its high scientific level and excellent execution.
