The construction of the Neapolis Indoor Gymnasium is progressing steadily, marking a significant step forward in a project that has long been a demand from the Vatika community. As reported by Theodoros Veroutis, the Vice Regional Governor of Laconia, the installation of the roof’s metal trusses is currently underway. This development is instrumental in moving the project toward completion.
The gymnasium, a collaborative effort between the Peloponnese region and the Municipality of Monemvasia, is set to play a vital role in the enhancement of sports and overall community development in the area. With a budget of €1,234,705.12 (including 24% VAT), the execution of this project has been notably persistent, as it marks the third attempt to bring the gymnasium to fruition.
On August 5, 2025, the project contract was officially signed, culminating in an initiative that promises to bolster athleticism and leisure activities for residents and visitors alike. Enthusiasm surrounds the ongoing work, as the gymnasium is anticipated to become an essential facility for various sports and community gatherings.
As we follow the developments of this project, it is clear that community engagement and the partnership of local authorities are key drivers in realizing this long-awaited facility. The Neapolis Indoor Gymnasium is not just an architectural structure; it represents a commitment to the growth and well-being of the Vatika society and its athletes.
