In a significant display of community solidarity, the residents of Kosmas, Arcadia, along with various organizations and associations, have voiced their strong opposition to the construction of a wind farm in the fir forest of Parnon, specifically at the site known as «Korombilia – Mazaraki.»
On January 3, 2026, a protest hike was organized by the «Initiative for the Protection of Kosmas,» the «Initiative for the Protection of Parnon,» the «Committee for the Salvation of Parnon,» the «Cultural Association of Leonidio,» and the «Climbing-Mountaineering Association of Leonidio.» This event saw the participation of over 200 individuals, showcasing the community’s commitment to preserving their natural environment.
In a further demonstration of their concerns, on January 6, 2026, a petition from the Regional Council of Peloponnese, dated December 29, 2025, was presented to Konstantinos Vlasis, the MP for Arcadia and Deputy Minister of Education, Religion, and Sports. The petition urged Mr. Vlasis to take a stance on the project, which has been condemned by the entire local community.
