On May 5, 2026, a significant meeting took place in Corinth, attended by the Regional Governor of Peloponnese, marking a pivotal session of the Regional Chamber Council of Peloponnese (PESP). This gathering brought together the Presidents of the five Chambers of Commerce within the Peloponnese region, highlighting the collaborative efforts aimed at enhancing regional business dynamics.
The attendees included:
– Mr. Panagiotis Louziotis, President of PESP and the Chamber of Commerce of Corinth
– Mr. Evangelos Xygkoros, First Vice President of PESP and President of the Chamber of Commerce of Messinia
– Mr. Fotis Damoulas, Second Vice President of PESP and President of the Chamber of Commerce of Argolis
– Mr. Ioannis Panaritis, Third Vice President of PESP and President of the Chamber of Commerce of Laconia
– Mr. Ioannis Trupis, Fourth Vice President of PESP and President of the Chamber of Commerce of Arcadia
Following this session, a working meeting was held with Governor Dimitris Ptochos, alongside the Deputy Governor of Corinth, Mr. Anastasios Gkioilis, and thematic deputy governors, including Mr. Sotiris Mourikis, Ms. Athena Korka, and Mr. Chrysovalantis Mellos, as well as the appointed advisor of the region, Mr. Markos Leggas.
The primary focus of the discussions revolved around current issues impacting entrepreneurship in the Peloponnese region, with a particular emphasis on supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which are recognized as the backbone of the local and regional economy.
Key topics included available and upcoming support programs for businesses through the Chambers, aimed at:
– Enhancing liquidity for businesses via financial tools and subsidies
– Promoting innovation and international outreach through participation in European and national programs, such as the forthcoming Innovation Office initiative, which aims to bolster research and innovation within the region
– Supporting the green transition of businesses through investments in sustainable practices and energy upgrades
During the meeting, a shared commitment was reaffirmed for close and meaningful collaboration between the Region and the Chambers, with the goal of creating a robust business ecosystem that fosters development, innovation, and competitiveness in Peloponnese.
