On May 31 and June 1, an extensive meeting of the Board of Directors of the Peloponnesian Federation of Commerce and Entrepreneurship (POEE) was held at the Cultural Multi-Space «FABRIKA» in Leonidio. These extended sessions are primarily informative, aimed at identifying key issues and broadening the advocacy framework for their resolution through targeted strategies and effective collaboration.
The meeting was honored by the presence of various dignitaries, including the Mayor of South Kynouria, Mr. Manolis Dolianitis; the Deputy President of the Processing Department of the Arcadia Chamber, Ms. Christina Syriou – Paraskevopoulou; and the Deputy President of the Trade Department of the Arcadia Chamber, Mr. Sotirios Balikos, along with representatives from the Commercial Associations of Tripoli and Astros, Mr. Giorgos Stamatopoulos and Ms. Matina Koukou.
Discussions initially concentrated on issues strictly related to the commercial sector, such as Law 4177 regarding discounts and Sunday holidays. There was also an update on the establishment of a New Independent Market Control Authority, which consolidates all market inspection services into one independent body, as well as challenges concerning building insurance.
A detailed presentation was made regarding the Digital Delivery Note, highlighting both the conveniences and challenges this application brings to businesses. The widespread issue of digital illiteracy impacting many colleagues was underscored, with a strong call for change. The POEE is urging the government to ensure that the implementation of new digital tools mandated for business operations facilitates the complete elimination of bureaucratic processes.
Particular attention was given to the Development Law, and an intervention was submitted by the Hellenic Confederation of Trade and Entrepreneurship (ESEE) to include the commerce sector, emphasizing sustainable development by supporting small businesses that can attract substantial investments. Additionally, concerning regional ESPA programs, the POEE has formally requested the Peloponnese Region to revive two programs (3.a.2.2 and 2.b.2.3) that would benefit enterprises with zero employees. The Peloponnese Region plays a crucial role in supporting entrepreneurship in the area, and there is a pressing need not only to advocate for the creation of such programs but also to support local actions through permanent consultation processes between the Region and local markets.
Finally, during this two-day event, the POEE officially welcomed the Commercial-Industrial Association of Megalopolis «O FILOPIMEN,» now the tenth member of the federation, with hopes for a constructive and beneficial collaboration for local businesses and the community.
