The Greek Mountaineering Club of Molai and Southeastern Laconia (E.O.S.M.N.A.L.) invites you to join an exciting three-day hiking adventure in the stunning Dirfys mountain range in central Evia from September 4 to 6, 2026. As the highest mountain in Evia, Dirfys is surrounded by unparalleled natural beauty, rich flora, and fauna, making it a perfect destination for nature enthusiasts.
During this weekend, participants will embark on three beautiful hiking trails:
- The Hero’s Path
- Steni – Refuge – Summit
- Stropones – Chiladou Beach
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Friday, September 4
The club’s bus will depart from Monemvasia in the morning, heading towards Evia. The first stop will be the village of Politika, which serves as the starting point for the Hero’s Path. Participants will learn the full and touching story of Hero during the bus ride.
This marked circular trail begins with an uphill climb but soon meanders through the forest, with the return journey taking place along a rural road. After completing the hike, the group will head to Steni Evias and check into the HOTEL STENI for some rest and a meal.
Day 2: Saturday, September 5
After breakfast, the group will depart by bus for a significant hiking experience. The day starts with an ascent to the E.O.S. Chalkida Refuge located at Leri. Those who prefer not to continue to the summit can relax at the refuge with a coffee.
The summit group will follow a dirt road for 1.5 km to the base of the slope. The trail is steep and rocky, and due to the mountain’s geographical location, strong winds are common. At an altitude of 1,500 meters, hikers will encounter rocky steps that may require hand assistance for safety.
Just before reaching the summit, hikers will traverse a series of dolines and rocky ridges, arriving at the triangulation point (1,743 m). After enjoying panoramic views of the Aegean Sea and mainland Greece, they will carefully return via the same path.
Day 3: Sunday, September 6
After breakfast at the hotel, the group will depart by bus for the village of Stropones, where the third hike will commence. The trail begins on a cobbled path near the Church of the Holy Trinity. From the outset, the route leads to the riverbed, shaded by plane trees and alongside clear waters forming small natural pools.
This hike takes place in a natural environment with continuous changes in scenery, providing a sense of exploration, as in many areas there is no classic defined path, culminating at the beautiful Chiladou Beach.
